Screw conveyors use a rotating helical screw (auger) inside a fixed trough or tube to push material from inlet to outlet. They are the most compact conveyor option for short horizontal runs, requiring minimal headroom and no return run. Screw conveyors handle a wide range of materials including grain, flour, fertiliser, wet sludge, and sticky pastes, where a belt conveyor would not perform. The screw pitch, diameter, and rotational speed are selected for the material properties and throughput required. Multiple inlets and outlets along the trough length allow dosing and blending applications.
