Grain cleaners use a combination of sieve screening and aspiration (air suction) to clean incoming grain of dust, chaff, straw, broken grain, and light foreign material. The grain passes over a series of screens with different aperture sizes: the top screen removes oversized material while the lower screens remove fines and undersized particles. Aspiration channels draw light material away from the grain stream at both the inlet and outlet of the screening section. Facet Engineering supplies pre-cleaners for high-throughput raw intake duties and full cleaners for finished product specification applications. Screen sizes are selected to the specific grain type and cleaning objective.
