Overview

Length graders use rotating cylinders or discs with precisely sized indent pockets to pick up and carry short particles while longer ones remain in the main stream. Cylinder indents are available in a range of pocket sizes to suit different grain dimensions. As the cylinder rotates, short particles (broken grain, weed seeds, or small foreign seeds) are lifted by the pockets and discharged into an internal trough, while full-length grain passes through the cylinder without being picked up. Disc graders use the same principle on individual rotating discs rather than a continuous cylinder. Length graders are widely used in certified seed production, export grain preparation, and anywhere where a narrow length specification is required.
